Fencing, walls and gates

What we do

A fence has to be solid, straight and secure, often on uneven ground, round trees and with little room to work. We set posts properly, use gravel boards to keep timber off the soil and agree the line with you before the first post goes in.

We also repair and rebuild brick and stone garden walls, paint railings and fit aluminium gates. Old fencing and rubble go with us when we leave.

  • Composite fencing
  • Concrete or timber posts and gravel boards

How it works

No pressure and no surprises. You can stop at any point before you accept the quote.

  1. Tell us what you need

Call Karol or send the form. Let us know the rough length and height, and whether the old fence needs to come down.

  2. We measure up

Karol walks the boundary with you, looks at the ground, any trees and the access, and talks through the options.

  3. You get a quote

The quote covers taking down the old fence, the new materials, fitting and taking the waste away.

  4. We put it up

We set the posts, fit the panels or boards and gates, and leave the area clear and tidy.

Good to know

Before we start

Under permitted development, a fence, wall or gate can usually be up to 2 metres high in a back garden, or up to 1 metre next to a road or footpath used by vehicles. Higher than that usually needs planning permission. Listed buildings and some estates have extra rules.

Your house deeds may show who is responsible for each boundary. It is good manners, and saves trouble later, to talk to your neighbour before a shared fence is replaced.

Composite fencing does not rot and does not need staining or painting. It costs more than timber at the start.

Gravel boards along the bottom keep fence panels off the soil, so they last longer.

What clients say

Read all reviews

I recently needed to replace a traditional garden fence that had rotted and become a security concern. It was a tough job, uneven ground, obstructing trees, and limited access, but Karol handled it with total professionalism. I contacted AK Gardening for an estimate, and Karol came out the very next day. He carried out a thorough assessment and provided a same-day quote, which was very fair and reasonable. I accepted, and to my surprise, he was able to start and complete the job the following day. The workmanship was excellent. Despite the challenges, the new fence is solid, secure, and looks great. Karol worked efficiently, left the area tidy, and clearly takes pride in what he does. I would highly recommend Karol AK Gardening Specialist to anyone needing quality work done right the first time. Five stars, without hesitation.

We called AK Gardening Specialist for fence replacement, brick wall restoration, and courtyard cleaning. The team was super professional, punctual, and efficient, and they completed the job in two and a half days. We will definitely call them back for other jobs and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Questions

About fencing and gates

How high can my fence be?

Usually up to 2 metres in a back garden without planning permission, and up to 1 metre next to a road. If your home is listed or there are local restrictions, check with the council.

Who owns the fence between me and my neighbour?

Your deeds or the Land Registry title plan may show it. If it is not clear, talk to your neighbour before we start. We are happy to agree the line with both of you.

Is composite fencing worth it?

It costs more than timber at the start, but it does not rot or need painting. Many people find it pays back over the years.

Can you repair my fence rather than replace it?

Often, yes. If the posts are sound, we can replace broken panels or boards. If the posts have rotted, a new fence is usually the better choice.

Do you fit gates?

Yes. We supply and fit aluminium driveway gates and side gates, and timber gates to match a fence.

Can you repair a brick garden wall?

Yes. We repair and rebuild brick and stone garden walls.
